December Winery Tour

Join the Club Event this Saturday, a TOUR of three wineries, two of which were named in the recent Portland magazine Top 50 Wines issue. We’ll meet at NOON in the Bi-Mart parking lot on the Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway at SW Western Ave. (Plan on lunch before we meet; no tasting on empty tummies!) The route will be Hwy 10 (Beav-Hills hwy turns into Farmington Rd) to the western end at 219, then north to Unger Rd, which takes us to the first stop Ardiri Winery From there, it’s over the hill to Gaston and west on Olson Rd (!) to the second stop Elk Cove Winery From there, it’s on to the last stop of the afternoon Garden Vineyards. Total mileage from parking lot to third winery is about 50 miles, on Mini-friendly roads!  All have beautiful tasting rooms and great wine, so come on along on Saturday. See you at NOON!...

October Members 2012

OMS would like to welcome our first October 2012 member – Lee from Hillsboro.    Lee says his first car was a 1963 Triumph TR-4 that he and his dad rebuilt.  And when he lived in England for a year and a half, he had a Clubman 1275 GT as his daily driver to and from work.  Now Lee is looking for a good daily driver here in the states.  A solid little mini would fit the bill (no time for restro); the closer to stock the better (yes, even an 850).   If you know of any mini wishing to be a daily driver, please contact OMS. Doug from Portland is also a new member of OMS this month.  Doug has donated his talents in designing the logo for MMW2013 as well as an event poster.  His mini is a 2000 Knightbridge – NICE! Billy from Portland rejoins OMS with his beautiful 1986 Mayfair Black Beauty.  Welcome back Billy! And Rob also joins OMS in the month of October.  Rob is from Springfield, OR and has a non-Mini 1960 Cadillac Series 62.  He is looking for that perfect father/son Mini project.  Imagine what their garage will look like with a cadi and a mini…...

September Members 2012

The month of September has brought in some new OMS members. Nathan and Realy Ann from Boise, Idaho: Realy Ann shared with us that Nathan does all their engine work and they are looking for more minis to “tear around with”.  They have a 1964 Morris Mini Minor Deluxe (pale green w/white roof, RHD, 998cc), a ‘76 Leyland Panel Van (bright yellow, RHD, 1275cc) and a 2003 MINI Cooper S (Silver/black roof). David from Portland: He found OMS at the ABFM and is in the process of searching for just the right Mini. So, if you happen to know of just the right Mini, get in touch with him! Steve and Gail are Vancouver, WA snow birds: Steve likes golfing, hiking and traveling and Gail likes teaching, volunteering and hiking.  Steve had a mini back in high school. Fast forward to retirement years and he has recently purchased a 1968 Mark II Cooper S from JET Motors – boy is he HAPPY! Happy Motoring Steve! Brent of Beaverton: Recently purchased a 1965 non running mini from JET Motors. He is already signed up for the Auto Restoration Class at Clackamas Community College and has begun taking off paint. Courage, Brent! It gets much worse before it gets better! A big hearty WELCOME to our new mini friends!...
